Always Wright: January and Febuary

January: We didn't do a whole lot during January. Roy was home on break till the 11th, so we just hung out and relaxed a lot.

We had a couple of days where it was "warm" enough to play outside.

On January 5th I had an ultrasound that I hoped would determine the gender of the baby. Here's what I looked like that day - I was about 23 weeks. The baby didn't cooperate too well and we got a "it looks like a girl" for an answer. But my doctor couldn't get a good look a few other things, so I had to go back two weeks later for another ultrasound. During that ultrasound he again said it looked like a girl, but wasn't sure. He also discovered that the baby's umbilical cord had 2 vessels instead of 3, so he had me go to a specialist the next week for another ultrasound. That ultrasound verified the 2 vessel cord, but also verified that there were no other problems or complications. Unfortunately we couldn't get a good look at the gender again! So, we assume it is a girl but won't be very surprised if it is a boy!

The kiddos spent the rest of January finding fun things to do inside and apparently roaming around the house half-naked most of the time.

I have very few pictures from January - especially of Rae - so I thought I'd throw this one in there. She's becoming a pretty good artist!

February: We got an epic snowstorm the first week of February. I think the total snow accumulation was about 12 inches. It all happened so quickly that no one was able to remove it fast enough, so everything shut down for a couple of days. Roy's school canceled classes for 3 days, all of the stores in town were closed, even the interstate was closed for a day or two. Along with the snow, our family got epic colds/flu! I got hit first and was completely miserable for the first week of February. Roy and Rae got hit next. Isaac got a bit sick and Blaise was lucky and avoided it completely! So we spent those "snowed-in" days inside recovering!

Uh, yeah, the house was a WRECK for about 2 weeks!

Only nice thing about sick kids is the fact that they sleep in the middle of the day!

It was nice that Roy had a little extra time off because of the storm and he was able to get some rest and feel better!

A few weeks later we got another storm but this time we were healthy and able to go out and play! Roy got the idea to use our recycling bin to build a wall or something, but he got too tired after about 5 bricks!

So he and Rae worked on a huge snowman.

Blaise, Isaac and I hung out on the front porch and watched.

But then Isaac went inside and shut the door and it locks when you shut it - so all of us were locked out! We didn't have a key and the key doesn't work on the front door or the deadbolt on the back door (which was locked) so Roy got our shovel and used it to pry open the bathroom window and Rae climbed in and saved the day! The whole ordeal was probably about 10-15 minutes, but it felt like longer because Isaac was crying the whole time and I was outside with no shoes or jacket and I needed to pee!
