March

There isn't a whole lot to say about March. For some reason we haven't been very good about taking pictures lately. Highlights of the month were:

Spring break the 14th-18th - no pictures though.

We decided to do "spring break in a day" instead of taking a trip somewhere. We went bowling, cruised around the toy store, went to my dr.appt., ate out at Outback and went to Walmart. Rae said it was a really good day, so I guess it was a success! The kids were very disappointed that real bowling is MUCH harder than Wii bowling. We had the gutter bumpers but no slide, so they had a hard time.

The rest of the week was spent re-arranging the house, putting together new furniture, getting out baby stuff, movie-nights with Roy and lots of rest! The re-arranging of the house will have to have a post of its own!

St Patrick's Day: The kids don't let a holiday go by without making it a big deal. Rae had a couple of cute green shirts to wear, but they were both short sleeved and she was cold, so she taped a bottle cap to her white shirt. What a weirdo. Also, she wore that hat or a similar one almost everyday (unless I told her it was a no-hat day) for the entire month of March. Anyway, back to St. Pat's day - I made green eggs and colored the butter green for their toast and I made green milk. Isaac was totally disgusted by it.




Speaking of disgusting, that day we found these pieces of rabbit on our back patio. I know a rabbit's foot is supposed to be good luck, but I don't think this counts!


Later in the month we had some gorgeous spring days, so we spent a lot of time outside.
We enjoyed seeing random flowers in our yard bloom. There is this patch of random daffodils in our backyard and a bunch of little patches all over the place. Of course the ones I planted didn't do nearly as well! I did get some tulips - I'll have to take a picture of them before they die!



On March 21st we went out to the lake to play on the playground there. It just a couple of miles from our house. While we were there I found a 4-leaf clover and I thought it was awesome! Maybe you aren't supposed to pick them or something, because on the way home we had bad luck! We saw an object in the road and at first we thought it was just a dead animal. But as we got closer I could tell it was a big piece of metal - like a part to a car or something - so I tried to tell Roy to swerve, but he was already prepared to just straddle it. So he went over it and there was a HORRIBLE noise and a BIG bump.

This is just one shot of some of the damage. The van was still running but it was making a horrible noise, so we knew something needed replaced. Luckily someone on facebook mentioned going through our insurance - which I hadn't even thought of! It's a good thing we did, because it ended up being more than $4,000 worth of damage. We had to get it towed to Columbia and they have been working on it for the past month. They had to take out the dash, front seats, and flooring and replace several of the components on the underside of the car. It's crazy how much damage was done. I wish I had a picture of the thing we ran over! We went back later to see what it was, but someone had moved it. And, just for the record, we weren't speeding or anything. Roy actually slowed down when we saw it, there just wasn't enough time to process what it was and react. Just a really unfortunate accident - but at least no one was hurt!

Anyway, we went the first 12 days or so without getting a rental car (we didn't have rental coverage on our insurance - bummer!) but then we broke down and rented the cheapest, smallest car we could that would fit all three kids in the backseat. Well, when we went to pick it up the guy at the counter offered us a Kia Sedona minivan for the same rate! We were SO grateful! I don't how I would have survived these past 3 weeks with all three kids and my big ol' pregnant self crammed into a sedan! Our van is supposed to be done tomorrow or Friday - woo hoo!
