I grew up in Blythe,CA (in case anyone out there didn't know) My friend sent me a link to a video from "pvtv" with my daddy in it! My dad is the principal at the high school there - and his name is Jeppson, not Jessop.
A few things I must point out:
-How unprofessional does that "news anchor" look?? Nice tattoo.
-The football stadium took a really long time to remodel (I dunno how long - but something like 4 years!) and it look exactly the same! :) Okay, it does look nice, but not that much different.
-All the other principals had a few short sentences to say, but my dad had a whole speech prepared! I think he's probably the only principal that has anything prepared for the school year as well.
-The last principal they showed - Jeremy James - was a teacher at the HS when I was there and I had a huge crush on him.
-How pathetic is our band?! Some things never change.

That sure brings back memories of the first day of school! The stadium does look the same but I think the new track looks a whole lot better than the dirt one we used to have and the grass is green. The band is definitely a lot smaller when I was in it but trust me they sound a lot better than when Mr. Nesmith taught. This makes me miss home a little bit at least now I am a little closer to go visit.
Good ol' Blythe indeed :) Some things never change.
Oh yeah, I think I played sports with the reporter...and she probably should have worn sleeves.
I wish I had had that track to train on. That's all I have to say about that.
Yeah, I guess the track does look pretty nice! I guess I just expected the actual stands to be incredible or something. Or, for the time it took to finish, an indoor stadium!
Mr. James...whoo whoo! The band didn't sound half bad really, just so few in numbers, right? Makes me miss Blythe a little bit too... :) Thanks for posting Ashley.
That was not the whole band, was it? It looks like it was probably just the band officers out early to play for people as they arrived to register and stuff. At least I hope so.... we had a tenor sax section bigger than that in my high school band and we weren't exactly the largest high school (we weren't tiny either, we barely qualified as a 5A school).
Oh, I'm positive that that was the whole of the band. They are sad in numbers and sad in sound.
Okay, a little defense here-
The stadium is changed, dramatically, the seats are all new aluminum benches and there is no more gaps where you always lose your water bottle, it rolls down to the front(Or in my case an infant grandson while you are intensely watching a soccer game) They have larger aisles and just in general, look sharp. The new press box and audio system works great and, hold on to your hats, they even have a wheelchair lift g where the wheelchairs have a nice platform built at the top of the center seats (right near press box)
Very state of the art! And the track is all-weather and awesome, yes Jennifer, you would have loved it. I understand that all track competitions for our league are to be held here this year, ours is the best track around. But, yes Ashley, it did take a few years to complete. And remember the sweat box gym during volleyball? It now has an awesome air conditioner and the bleachers retract and come out mechanically and will have (this week) new finishes on top the benches (formica? type tops). So things are happening, slowly but surely, and I'm sure Mr Jessop will make more improvements as years go by.
Thanks for the details Pat! I guess just from the small glance I got you can't see all that much! So glad the gym has AC now, although I think we had the "home team" advantage when the other players walked in and could hardly breathe because it was so hot!
The real questions is: why did it take so flippin' long?!
