Why do I own so many dishes? Why do my two children need 10 plastic bowls and 8 plastic plates and a gazillion utensils? Why do we have 5 Olive Garden cups, 2 Ponderosa cups, 5 Christmas cups, 2 Disney cups and 4 other plastic cups? Why do I load the dishwasher every single day with all of these dishes?? Why don't they use one or two a day and I just wash them when I need them? It's not like I have a newborn and I'm totally busy and can't take the time to wash a plate before lunch. I could probably get away with loading the dishwasher every two days if I was more careful. But I've never had a dishwasher before this apartment and it's still such a novelty to me and I don't want to wash anything by hand! :) But I just can't believe how many plates, bowls and cups we've accumulated! I like having a few extra on hand for when we have friends over, but we definitely don't need that many! It's time for a cupboard clean out and time for me to start rinsing the kids' cups and using them more than once in a day!
Anyone else have this problem? My friend Dawn just blogged about this and said they bought each kid a bowl that they painted and if they want to use a bowl they have to use theirs and only theirs. I think I might use this idea when Rae is just a little bit older. And my mom always used to have our names on a cup that we had to use the whole day - that's a good idea too. Any other ideas?

You are so funny. Certainly not a packrat, are you? And you will have a newborn before you know it, so I say hang on to those dishes!
I think part of it is just that we have so little cupboard space, so there is one single shelf dedicated to all the plates, bowls and cups and it's starting to feel a little crowded. :)
We do the name on the cup thing too. We now have an entire drawer full of cups and lids. It is too much. But they do come in handy when friends come over. My kids love having hot chocolate in them in the backyard when they are playing with friends. Have you always had bangs? Your hair is really cute.
